If you are considering fitting double glazed sash and case windows into your property, it is not always necessary to replace the complete window.

If you already have sash and case windows and your existing casement is in good condition, we can manufacture new sashes to fit exactly into the existing box.

This means there is no need to remove panelling and shuttering and offers considerable savings over complete replacement. The case is carefully renovated, the external pointing is renewed, and the windows are fully draught proofed.

Click on the Grange Terrace case study for complete information on the process including before and after gallery.

On this project on Grange Terrace in Edinburgh, we replaced the lower bay windows with replacement double glazed sashes. We carefully replicated the original mouldings and dimensions so it is virtually identical to the original sash and case windows which were removed.

As you can see in the photo below, you can see the look of the building is not affected at all by the new windows. The upper floor still has the original single glazed windows, and the ground floor has the replacement double glazed sashes.

As the original casements have been restored and renovated in situ, there was no damage to the original panel work and surrounds. The external pointing was renewed with the traditional sand mastic finish to complete the finish.

Our sash painting team then applied the finish coats of paint on site.

The use of period brass ironmongery retains the original style.

If you click on the images, they will open up in a new screen.
