We manufacture sash and case windows in our own workshop at Eskbank.

We make both single glazed and double glazed windows in any size or style.

Our windows are constructed using the  traditional haunched mortice and tenon joints.  This gives the window far more strength than those favoured by the mass produced market.  Our windows are then finished off by hand.

We also manufacture replacement shutters and doors, period mouldings, etc to compliment the original style of your sash and case windows .

Their windows would originally have been sash and case but,  had been removed in the 50′s and replaced with single pane, pivot windows.

As the property is listed,  the replacement was not a straight forward procedure. We took various dimensions and profiles from some of the other properties on the street which still had their original windows.  Then working together with the client and the local planning authority, drawings were submitted and passed for the re-instatement of  the new windows.

We then manufactured the new windows in the the original proportions but with double glazed units. We also fitted a timber mullion externally to replicate the stone mullion which had been removed. Victorian style ogee mouldings were used and a 60/40 split was used.

The client recovered the original shutters from the front window, so we formed new panelwork round the new windows to house these shutters and manufactured new panelwork and facings in the other rooms.

The new wood was then given an antique waxed finish to match the colour of the original shutters and the windows were all glossed externally.
