Reinstatement of original style sashes.

It is unusual to have such skilled craftsmen at work. Both the joiners and the painter (who was meticulous in his work) were excellent, very helpful and a pleasure to have around. I am a very satisfied customer.

Replacement sashes – Regent Terrace

Sash and case windows Regent Terrace, EdinburghWe undertook a large sash window renovation on some of the neighbouring properties on Regent Terrace, at the turn of the year (see case studies).

On this Grade “A” listed property next to Calton Hill, the original windows had been converted to 2 over 2 style and the casements were in fairly poor condition.

New 6 0ver 9 sashes ready for fitting

Old two over twos

Old Two over two style sashes

We renovated the original sash window casements, and renewed all the pointing to ensure no weather could penetrate the building. We manufactured and fitted new sashes,  returning them back to the distinctive 6 over 9 style.

At over 3 metres tall, these windows are among  the larger sized ones in Edinburgh, offering fantastic views over Arthurs Seat.

Spottiswoode Street – Sash Window Renovation

Marchmont

We are delighted with the work carried out. The workmen arrived promptly on the first day and carried out all work to a high standard. Each evening we discussed which rooms they would be working in during the next day, and they were happy to accommodate our requests.

Any snags that arose (e.g. a couple of broken panes discovered during painting) were fixed within the day. They also did a good job of tidying up after themselves, including sweeping the back garden of all chippings etc.

A first class job – the finished windows look great and operate smoothly. I would be delighted to recommend K Construction to anyone.

Spottiswoode Street – Sash window renovation

MarchmontOn this top floor  property in the city’s Southside, we undertook the renovation, draught proofing and painting of all the sash and case windows.

We fitted some traditional victorian brass sash bars to the bay window and front bedroom, and a more contemporary chrome finish on the rear rooms.

Double Glazed Upgrade – Marlborough Street Portobello

Marlborough Street PortobelloThanks to all involved in the work to replace my old sashes with new double-glazed units in what is a very exposed seaside site, from Colette in the office to the painter, everyone did exactly what was agreed with a minimum disruption.

Advice, options and explanation of work to be done was reassuring and freely given.

The job was carried out cleanly and on time.

I am so pleased by the outcome that I have decided to go ahead with replacement of tired old tilt windows at the rear of the property with new double glazed sashes and cases to help restore the flat to it’s original look as well as combat problems with condensation and draughts.
